Are you looking to add a little something to your fall garden?

Over the past few weeks, some Americans saw snow, gray skies, and frost. Before we store all of our gardening tools and head indoors for that cup of hot chocolate, there is still much to be done in the garden.

Today, we are talking about 5 different perennials that can help take the gloom out of fall. These perennials provide your garden and landscape with beautiful fall colors that will warm you up on the coldest of fall days.

  1. Sedum
Sedum is a very popular and hardy perennial. Not only does sedum provide you with a beautiful bloom in the fall, but during the winter the beautiful green foliage plays the perfect background to falling snow. This flower also attracts butterflies to your garden, creating the perfect oasis.

  2. Monkshood
If you have yet to familiarize yourself with this plant, now is the time because this is a charming flower. This blue, purple and white flower blooms in the late summer and into the early fall. This is a perfect flower for your garden especially if you live in a colder climate.

  3. Joe Pye Weed
Native to the prairie, when this flower blooms it will have you stopping in your tracks. Not only is this flower easy to grow, but like sedum it will attract butterflies to your garden.

  4. Switchgrass
This is every fall gardener’s must-have. In the spring, this perennial sports green foliage, and as the temperatures get hotter the foliage changes to silver, red, or pink. When the summer’s hot temperatures cool down the foliage turns to burgundy or yellow.

  5. Hosta
This last perennial is one of our favorites here at Rootwell Products Inc., the hosta. This is an easy-to-grow perennial with eye-catching flowers in the fall. Plus, if you are an allergy sufferer, this is a great fall perennial since it made WedMDs Best Plants for Allergies. Please see: Top Plants for Allergy Sufferers.

Happy planting everyone, and we hope you enjoy these beautiful perennials as much as we do. Do you have any favorite perennials to add to the list?
