Landscaping Tips

  • The Old Farmers’ Almanac has offered a great tip when it comes to maintaining your lawn. Their advice is to make sure that you clean your mower blades. Doing this will help to prevent diseases and even help you keep a cleaner lawn.
  • It can be frustrating to know how much to water and when to water. A good rule of thumb is to saturate your lawn. That means that your lawn will feel soggy beneath your foot.
  • Regularly mow your lawn and keep the height of the grass to about 3 inches tall at the most.

Fruit and Vegetables Tips:

  • According to Better Homes and Gardens, once the soil is above 60 degrees, it is time to start planting those heating loving vegetables. Those vegetables include cucumber, corn, green beans and squash.
  • To enjoy a long harvest of heat loving vegetables, make sure to plant them about every 2 weeks.

Perennial and Annual Tips:

  • There is still time left to divide most perennials. Spring and early summer bloomers, as well as any that aren’t taller than 5-6 inches high are not ready just yet for division. In our article, How to Divide Perennials the Easy Way, you’ll find out how to do just that.

General June Gardening Tips

  • You know your lettuce has gotten bitter when it has “bolted”. Bolted means that the central part of the lettuce plant has grown rapidly. Lettuce and spinach are known for doing this.
