- There are two different groups of hydrangeas, mopheads and lacecaps.

- Mophead flowers love moist and well-drained soil with a little shade.
- Some examples of mophead hydrangeas are Big Daddy, Pink Shira, and Sun Goddess Hydrangea.
- Lacecaps produce a flower head that is surround by colorful smaller flowers that make up a bigger flower.
- A few examples of lacecap hydrangeas are rough-left hydrangea, spreading beauty, and blue bunny.
Hydrangeas Planting Tips
- Pick a spot in the garden where the hydrangea can receive full sun in the morning and shade in the afternoon.
- Dig a hole that is as deep as the root ball and at least 2 times as wide.
- After the hole is dug put the hydrangea in the hole and only fill in half of the hole with soil.
- Water the hole thoroughly.
- Fill the rest of the hole with soil.
- Water thoroughly again.
More Hydrangea Tips
- Hydrangeas need a lot of water, especially at first. Even with the extra water needed hydrangeas are worth it.
- If you are having trouble getting enough water to your hydrangeas, consider installing aeration tubes.
- Pick out an aeration tube that comes in a shrub or plant size. Aeration tubes have been scientifically proven to encourage deep root growth and above ground growth.
