4 Reasons to Grow Your Own Asparagus

Does your family love asparagus?

Would you like to be able to save money and eat healthy?

One of the best ways to save money and eat healthy is to grow your own vegetables. Today, we are sharing about planting your very own asparagus. My family loves asparagus. I will sprinkle some olive oil and parmesan cheese on them and bake them at 400 degrees for about 8 minute. My family goes crazy for this delectable dish.

Today, I am going to share 4 reasons why you should grow your own asparagus.

  1. Save Money
I went to the store last week to pick up some more asparagus and learned that to purchase one pound, it was almost 5 dollars, and that wasn’t even the organic kind. My family of 3 goes through at least a pound a week if I let them. If I grow my own asparagus at home, after the initial costs, I’ll be on my way to saving money!
  2. Asparagus is a Perennial
This is great news. Asparagus is a perennial and this means that after the hard work of planting, your asparagus will come up year after year. The University of Illinois reported that it can even come up for 20-30 years!
  3. Health Benefits
We all know that typically when it’s green, it’s healthy. Asparagus is no different and according to Organic Garden asparagus is rich in:

    • Vitamins B
    • Vitamins C
    • Calcium
    • Iron
  4. Early Planting
You can plant asparagus as soon as the ground can be worked. For some of the country that is this month!
